Africa has undergone an unprecedented transformation over the past 15 years in terms of economic prosperity, democratic consolidation and cultural impact, this has resulted in an increased economic interest and cultural identification by people of African descent residing outside Africa.

The existence of approximately 19 million African migrants globally (IOM: 2019) emphasises the need for Diaspora engagement as a strategic priority for the African Continent and its prosperity. To this end, Madrew is positioned to encourage and facilitate the growing integration of the African Diaspora as an important part of the continent, in the building of the new Africa.

The Africans in the diaspora consists of peoples of African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality and who are willing to contribute to the development of the continent and the building of the African Union.
